Penguin India is the largest English language trade publisher in the sub-continent. Headquartered in New Delhi, it is a joint venture between Penguin India Publishing Co. Ltd — a member of Pearson, the international media conglomerate — and the ABP Group.
Penguin India was founded in 1985 and began publishing by October 1987. Today, it publishes over 200 titles annually and distributes books from overseas publishing houses such as the Penguin Group, Time Warner Books Group UK, Faber & Faber and Bloomsbury. The diversity and range of its publishing list is exemplary. Over the years, Penguin’s titles in fiction and non-fiction have covered topics as varied as self-help, cookery, reference and quizzing, biography, travel, picture books, business, politics, history, health and fitness, religion and philosophy, sports and leisure, amongst others. One of Penguin India’s biggest publishing initiatives has been the relaunch of Puffin, its children’s imprint, in 2002.
